Father's Day

Kass' first Father's Day was pretty low key. We went to church Saturday evening so we were able to sleep in a bit Sunday morning. As a little gift from Kaden to his Daddy, I framed a few of the professional pictures that we had done so Kass could take them to the office. I had a hard time choosing, but here are the three I picked. I am pretty sure this face could brighten anyones stressful day!

After breakfast and Kaden's morning nap, we headed out to the pool. Kass' first Father's Day marks Kaden's first time to go under the water. Daddy did it...not once but 3 times! Ok, I'll admit that I did it once, but not nearly as good as Daddy. There's a trick to it. Blow really hard into his face so that it takes his breath away and then immediately put him under water. I wasn't fast enough :(

Even though most days I don't show it, I truly am so thankful to have such a wonderful man to call my husband and Kaden's Daddy. I love you babe!

Friday Fun

Last Friday was Kass' Friday off from work so we met some friends for lunch in downtown Frisco. After lunch, they introduced us to a cool little waterpark for kids. And of course, Kaden enjoyed himself because water was involved!

Some areas were a little more dangerous than others. Once these buckets were full of water, they would tip over with a bit of force. The older kids loved it! We made sure we kept Kaden and Logan away from the splashing buckets. Give it a few years and they'll enjoy it too.

Daddy...HELLO...it's a little too close to my face!

You bet! We had to get this shot...classic!

Kaden's sweet friend, Logan.

Watch out boys, the water is about to come back on and get you!

See ya! Crawling is so cool...I get to go where I want and by myself!

Just Like His Daddy!

Last week, I went to the movies to see Sex and The City 2 with a friend. When I got home, I asked Kass how the evening went. His reply, "take a look at your camera." This is what I found...

He can pretty much sleep anywhere...just like his Daddy...even in the Johnny Jump Up! All I could do was smile :) Love , love, love this little guy!!!

second cousins

A couple of weeks ago, the Fuchs and Zimmerman families (Kass' aunt, uncle and cousins) stopped by for a short visit on their way to Oklahoma for a family reunion. Maybe I should say a brief visit...they were here for an hour Friday afternoon on their way to Oklahoma and just long enough to have burgers and a couple of glasses of wine before they were back on the road Saturday evening headed home to Huntsville. We were more or less a meeting place/pit stop since they were coming from 2 different places and only wanted to drive one car to Oklahoma. Aimee and Caleb actually ended up staying the night Saturday and we were so happy they did! We put the boys to bed and then spent the next several hours that evening catching up...it was great! Poor Aimee, I'm sure she was so tired on her drive back to Abilene Sunday morning. I don't think we went to bed until midnight...and that is VERY late for us these days!

Kaden really enjoyed hanging out with his second cousin, Caleb. Caleb is exactly 2 months older but you'd never guess it since Kaden is such a BIG boy...97th percentile people!

The boys had fun watching the dogs through the window. Well, I should say that Caleb had fun. He was cracking up and it was so cute. Kaden was admiring Caleb's laugh. You see, he gets to see these dogs everyday, and they aren't that funny anymore. He still loves 'em though.

Kaden enjoyed chasing Caleb around the house. Since Caleb is a little older, he has this crawling thing down...he's so fast!

So sweet...giving goodbye kisses...

Lovin' It...

I warned you that there would be a post about the baby pool. I got it out early last week and we have used it several times since then. It's a really good afternoon activity for Kaden! It actually keeps him entertained for somewhere close to 30 minutes...that is A LOT of time when you are constantly racking your brain for things to keep a little boy occupied...he has so much energy! He just loves being in it as you will see in the pics!

I actually learned a couple of lessons while getting the pool ready for Kaden.

1. Whatever you do, don't air up the pool with the baby in the same room if you are using an air compressor to get the job done. I didn't think anything of it and brought Kaden out into the garage with me. As you are probably guessing, he started screaming the second I turned the thing on...it was way too loud for his liking. Poor little guy! That ruined the use of the pool for day 1. I tried setting him in it while it was still in the garage and he would have nothing to do with it. I really thought I had ruined the whole idea until day 2 when he actually loved being in it.

2. Don't fill the pool too early because the birds will enjoy their afternoon bath in it before the baby gets to enjoy it. I thought I was smart by filling the pool a couple of hours early and letting it sit in the sun so the water would be warm for Kaden. Needless to say, the birds had a fun time playing in the water until Kaden woke up from his nap ready to go.

I took lots of pictures the first day. He is just so stinkin' cute! He makes my heart happy :)

a week of many firsts

Last week held lots of firsts for the Copelin family. Since Kass and I got married almost 7 years ago, we have tried to take a sunny beach vacation each summer. Last summer, that did not happen. Probably because I was preggo and trying to finish my MBA by August so that I could prepare to have Kaden. I really wanted to go back to Jamaica, which is where we honeymooned, but after delaying Kass from booking the trip, the cost skyrocketed so we settled on Destin, Florida. Now, why would I delay him from booking the trip?!?! I was being a mom and stressing out about how I was going to deal with leaving my little boy overnight...not just one night but THREE nights. I was really concerned about even being able to enjoy the vacation...quickly got over that once we were in Destin on the beach!!! Plus I knew that Kaden was in good hands with Nana :)

On our drive down to Brenham, we stopped and met up with Kass' family on Lake Waco. This marks the first first...Kaden being on a lake! We had burgers and hung out for a little while until Kaden was worn out. He feel asleep in Denae's arms for a few minutes while we were visiting. And then slept all the way from Waco till we turned down the road to my parents. Perfect timing!

We made it to Brenham around 4 pm that day. My parents grilled out and the other Bilski's joined us for dinner, drinks and several rounds of volleyball. Kaden got his first taste of freshly shucked corn on the cob that evening. Not really but he was entertained with it for a little while... I think he thought it was a big deal because the look on his face was like...really, I can have this? :)

On Sunday, we headed to the pool. Kass and I were able to start our vacation a little early because my parents stayed with Kaden while he napped and then brought him out to the pool. We got to catch a few rays without the babe which was nice. He was a little nervous about ALL of the water at first but warmed up to the idea. He starts swim lessons in a few weeks so I'm happy that his first time of being in the big pool is over. I got the baby pool out today and we are going to try it out once Kaden wakes up from his nap. I'm sure there will be a post about that too...you know me, one proud mama!

Swimming wore him out so after a little cat nap, Kaden met a baby calf for the first time. Introducing Alfalfa... He wasn't too sure about the idea at first but was smiling shortly after the initial intro. I'm thinking that he better get used to the idea of cows because I am very certain that when he's old enough, he'll be checking cows with Papa all the time.

Kass and I left for Destin early Monday morning but not before seeing Kaden for a few minutes before headed out. We had a great time! It was so nice to be able to relax and get a break from being parents for a few days. We really enjoyed being able to go to dinner...just the 2 of us! And especially enjoyed relaxing and reading on the beach. I feel very refreshed and am ready for whatever Kaden has in store! By the way...did I mention that he is now crawling...yep, I needed that vacation now that I have to chase him around all day!

So here's a BIG thanks to Nana and Papa for watching Kaden while Kass and I enjoyed a little time together!

The best part about the whole trip, besides vacationing with my wonderful husband on the beach, was getting back to my parents and seeing Kaden. He had the biggest smile on his face and reached out for me to take him. Now that just melted my heart!
